Reports from the Department of Personnel and Training reveal many employees carry low leave balances that are insufficient to cover absences due to extended illness or injury.
An employee who is out for an extended amount of time and has a disability that may be permanent, can be left with little or no income.
Statistics from the Department of Labor indicate that between age 35 and 65, 30% of Americans will experience an extended period of illness or a disability.
Basic Plan Options:
- Benefit Periods: 2 Years / 5 Years / Age 65 / Lifetime
- Benefit Waiting Periods: 30 / 60 / 90 / 180 Days
- Levels of Coverage: 60%, 66 2/3% or 70% of base monthly earnings
- Maximum Benefit: usually $5,000 monthly maximum or higher
- Cost is determined by: Age, Gender, Salary and Occupation
